Multiplayer

Although Multiplayer has never been Racer`s strong point, never developed enough to be at least playable and bug free, it is one of its main attractions.

Racer 0.53 beta 4.0 was thought not to work(the person connecting to a server would have no sound and the opponent`s car would shake violently from side to side), someone realized that by changing the "linear_interpolation" from the racer.ini file to " 1 " fixed these problems. Its downfall is that it creates more lag.

In Racer 0.5.5, support for a Multiplayer Lobby was added, along with a lobby server program. By default the lobby connects to a central lobby server (lobby.racer.nl) but you can run your own and put your server's IP in there. It has improved greatly and now detects if a player can actually host a game and checks for racer versions.

It is a common misconception that all players must race the same car - this is not so. Each user can race a different car. It is unclear if the user must be set to the same track.

Multiplayer support has greatly been improved over time, and is relatively seamless in the latest versions.
