Released in 1997, NFS2 was the first revision of the Need For Speed series. While it lacked cops - EA said they ran out of time and never finished the Hot Pursuit mode - point to point tracks, and had more arcadish physics, it featured more cars, more tracks and much better graphics than the original.
As with TNFS, a mild revision on NFS2 was released in 1998 as NFS2 SE. Unfortunently, it did not fix the most glarring problem with NFS2, the lack of cops, though it did featured 3D acceleration with the 3dfx chip, one more track, and four more cars.
