After almost two decades of unsuccessful attempts, Mazda finally won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991. The car they did it with, the 787B, had a 700hp 4-rotor rotary, and was driven by Bertrand Gachot, Johnny Herbert, and Volker Weidler. It was the first Japanese made car and the first rotary engined car to win the legendary race. Sadly, rotaries were effectively banned from Le Mans competition following the 1991 season. No Japanese car or rotary powered car has won Le Mans since.
This model of the 1991 Mazda 787B is very poly-efficient, weighing in at only 4856 polygons for the entire high detail body and wheels. In addition, it features three lower level of detail bodies for improved frame rates. I've also included AI lines for eight tracks.
This car has two paint schemes, the #55 red/green/silver Charge-sponsored car that won Le Mans and the #18 white/blue car. You can use Raven, a car organizing tool for Racer, to select which paint scheme to use. The sounds were made by nihil8.

 Download the Mazda 787B
Note: The version above is not compatible with Racer v0.5.0. I have made a v0.5.0 compatible version, however, it is not as good as the v0.5.2 version. You should use the v0.5.2 version if possible. Download the Mazda 787B for Racer v0.5.0 here.

Plain textures
For those of you who want to make your own custom paint jobs, here are the Photoshop .psd files I used to create this car. These textures have two shadow layers, "Dark Color Shadows" and "Light Color Shadows". The only difference is the darkness of the shadows. Light colors, such as white or yellow, should use the "Light Color Shadows" layer because they don't need as dark of shadows. Everything else should be self-explanatory.

If you want to modify one of the two existing paint schemes, here are the same textures with the #18 and #55 paint scheme layers included. These textures are a bit more complicated; they have about twice as many layers as the blank textures.
